Today’s Booking Through Thursday question asks:
Do you prefer reading current books? Or older ones? Or outright old ones? (As in, yes, there’s a difference between a book from 10 years ago and, say, Charles Dickens or Plato.)
I tend to gravitate towards current books. That’s not to say that I won’t read older books, but there are so many ‘new’ books out there that I haven’t read. In high school, we did read a lot of the classics, and while there are many that I would like to reread, there are so many other books out there that I have never read and really want to.
Now, on my TBR pile, there are books that were brand new (just released) when I got them and have yet to be read – again, so many books, not enough time! By the time I do get to read them, they may be considered old, but they will get read.
So, short answer – current books for me! What about you?
My answer is more or less in the same line as yours. I am always seeing or hearing of a new release, and just have to buy it, and then it sets on my shelf for a year or two before I get to it. But, my motto is: " No matter how old the book, if you haven't read it, it is new to you."
Thanks for visiting My Reading Corner today.

I read anything but I think I have been reading more current books, thus if a book published in 1970s is current.
I enjoy both old and new, though the newer ones seem to have a better marketing campaign.
I'm a big library user and often wonder about those poor lonely books that are lost on the shelves, waiting to be discovered.
I need some age on my books before I read them! Here is my answer on Rose City Reader.
I find new books very attractive !
I tend to love current best sellers but I pick my books out of interest, not age, lol.
Indeed! Where is time when we needed it? I, too, have lots of unread books and I everytime I look at them its seems they're beckoning me to read them! I guess it's time to pull them out of the bookshelf.
I was not too keen on current books. There are just so many of them. But I think I'll try to read one or two and maybe, just maybe, I might find myself waiting for next releases. 😀
I think TBR lists naturally fill up with more "current" books than classics, since we hear them and put them down.
I mainly love the current books, too, but I'm the same way – by the time I get to some of the books in my TBR, they are no longer new. LOL
I like to read them all, but tend to read current books the most.
I tend to find something new, like it, then go back and read everything that writer has put out. So, I like both current and oldish. When I was a kid, though, my dad collected old books, so I read a ton of 100 year old novels. I had very weird reading tastes when I was a kid, because of that. 😀
