First line: Tricia McCall was not the type to see apparitions, but there were times – especially when lonely, tired or both – that she caught just the merest flicker of a glimpse of her dog, Rusty, out of the corner of one eye.
Why I read this: I was sent this book to review.
From the back cover: Conner Creed knows exactly who he is: a hardworking rancher carrying on his uncle’s legacy in Londsome Bend, Colorado. Maybe a small-town cowboy’s life isn’t his dream, but he owes the man who took him in as a kid. Until the identical twin brother he’s been estranged from for years reenters his life.
Conner struggles with identity issues as he gets to know his wilder brother. And then he meets Tricia McCall, a beautiful woman who knows a thing or two about living someone else’s dreams. Together, they just might find their own dreams right here in Lonesome Bend…
My thoughts: This is the second in Linda Lael Miller’s latest trilogy, the Creed Cowboys (which is actually a part of her Montana Creed’s series) and I enjoyed it. Here we have a good modern-day lonely cowboy meeting a modern-day city girl story, filled with matchmakers at every turn – great-grandmother Nattie, god-child Sasha and even Valentino the dog. Tricia, the daughter of divorced parents, has always kept men at arm’s length. Connor, orphaned at a young age, is raised by his aunt and uncle with his cousin and twin by his side. He gives up his dreams to stay and take care of the ranch left to him and his brother, Brody. Starting to feel the loneliness of running a ranch by himself, he sets his eyes on Tricia, who is temporarily in Lonesome Bend to sell off her father’s land holdings so she can then go back to Seattle and open her own art gallery. Will she be happy in a small town, living on a ranch? In Creed’s Honor, we see some familiar characters and are given brief glimpses of Brody, who’s story will finally be told in The Creed Legacy, the final story in this trilogy. I am eagerly awaiting the release of this final book and will definitely be going back to read some of Linda Lael Miller’s earlier series.
I received a complimentary copy of Creed’s Honor by Linda Lael Miller fromTricia at Meryl L. Moss Media Relations, Inc. to review.
