My thoughts: I have really come to love when Jennifer Van Dyck narrates a book – she really seems to nail the different characters, giving each one their own personality in addition to a different voice.
In Eight Days to Live, my only disappointment is that Eve Duncan and her forensic scultping is not at the forefront of the book, which is what originally attracted me to this series. This one is really about her adopted daughter, Jane MacGuire, who finds herself being pursued by a cult because of painting she did based on her dreams. Someone wants that painting at any cost and wants Jane to die for painting it. Filled with suspense and a cast of familiar characters, Eight Days to Live takes us on quite a ride. Leaning on her friends – Eve, Joe, MacDuff, Jock, and Caleb – she has eight days before she is the guest of honor at a sacrificial offering. This was a thrilling and chilling story, and more than a bit frightening in some parts.
I am now hooked on listening to the rest of this series as long as they are narrated by Jennifer Van Dyck!
