Book Beginnings Friday: Merry Christmas, Alex Cross

Please join Rose City Reader
every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are
reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence,
impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.  Please
remember to include the title of the book and the author.

I’m reading Merry Christmas, Alex Cross by James Patterson:

The rear door to St. Anthony’s Church had been left open. Exactly as I had been promised.

This is James Patterson’s newest Alex Cross book
and I was at the bookstore on Monday when they opened waiting to buy
this. I’m only 25 pages in so far, but I can already tell that this is
going to be a good one and am hoping to have some time this weekend to
read the rest of the book!

Do you read James Patterson? Do you have an author you read that you count down the days until their newest release?

I personally don't read any James Patterson, but my mom does and she loves loves this series. I'll have to tell her that you like it and encourage her to pick it up. Thanks.

As I mentioned above, I'm only 25 pages in but it's really good so far!

Nice beginning. Why has the door been left open, though? My Friday post is HERE.

It definitely makes you think…why they would need to be promised that the back door of a church would be left open???

This beginning definitely grabs me and makes me want to read more. I haven't read any of the Alex Cross books so I must be missing some good stories!
My post today features FLIGHT BEHAVIOR by Barbara Kingsolver.

They are pretty good – this is the 19th book in the series!
