I’m reading The Winter Palace by Eva Stachniak:
The spies you learn about are either those who get exposed or those who reveal themselves. The first have been foolish enough to leave a trail of words behind them; the second have reasons of their own.
The beginning of this book hooked me right away…spies and the rise of Catherine the Great. I’ve been intrigued by Catherine the Great ever since a taking a college history class where I had to write a paper on her. I was thrilled to see quite a few books come out last year about her – this one and even a biography by Robert Massie. Part of my New Year’s resolution for 2013 is to read more of my own books that I have sitting on my bookshelf and this was the first one I choose to read.

That is an awesome beginning! I must confess, I know next to nothing about Catherine the Great. Thank you for sharing this! It might end up on my TBR pile 🙂

It's really good so far…I'm only about 100 pages in, but having a hard time putting it down!

It's been sitting on my shelf since it came out last year – hoping it gets read this year, too!

I actually bought the ebook for my Nook when it first came out, but decided I wanted the print copy – so now I have 2 copies.
