This weekend I will be participating in Bloggiesta! This event couldn’t be more timely as I been neglecting my blog lately due to life getting in the way.
This is a great weekend blogging marathon being hosted by Suey at It’s All About Books and Danielle at There’s a Book.
The premise of the bloggiesta, for
those that haven’t participated before, is to spend the entire
weekend working, updating, improving your blog. From minor things
such as writing up posts, to reaching out for guests posts and
reorganizing all of your tags and categories.
So what do I plan to do this weekend? Well… here’s my to-do list:
- Write up all outstanding reviews that I need to post
- Set up posts for upcoming review/posts
- Update reading log and link reviews to log
- Update challenge lists and link reviews
- Update Review Archive list
- Post necessary reviews to Netgalley
- Look into options for replacing Google Reader
- Clean up reader subscriptions before migrating to new reader
- Clean up e-mails
- Update Goodreads tbr list
- Update blog roll
- Update blog planner/calendar
- Participate in at least 2 mini-challenges
- Visit at least 15 blogs participating in Bloggiesta each day
It’ll
be a fun and hopefully very productive weekend. I’m hoping to log
at least 20 hours during this event – hopefully I will get even more
in though!!!
What about you? Are you participating in Bloggiesta?
UPDATE #1:
- Wrote 3 reviews
- Set up posts for 4 reviews
- Updated reading log and linked all reviews
- Updated reading challenges, linked all reviews, and updated progress bars
- Updated blog planner/calendar
- Visited and commented on 16 blogs
- Adjusted review format to include source line at top of post
- Set up twitter account for blog – you can find me @alwayswithabook or click on the twitter icon on the sidebar
UPDATE #2:
- Wrote 2 more reviews
- Set up post for upcoming blog tour
- Updated Goodreads tbr list
- Cleaned up e-mail inbox
- Played around with Bloglovin – claimed my blog and imported blogs I’m following – still deciding whether I will stay with this or try feedly
- Attended my first Twitter chat – so much fun until Tweetchat stopped working for me
Excellent goals! I am looking forward to hearing about your progress as the days go on.
I also love the challenges in your side bar. So cool to track throughout the year!
Thanks…hopefully it will be a productive weekend.
Those bars help keep me motivated with my reading challenges and it allows me to quickly see where I am falling down!
Hi Kristin, good luck with your goals. I would love to know how you get the reading challenge updates in your sidebar. I love that! Would you mind sharing with me how you did it? Hope to hear from you more this wknd.
Hi Tanya: Thanks and good luck to you, too!
I got the updates from the NaNoWriMo word meter. If you click on one of the progress bars, it will take you there. Hope this helps!
Thanks Kristin, I will have to check it out.
P.S. And now I have to add ANOTHER goal to my list 🙂
I keep a list in my notebook, where I can easily add all the new things I keep seeing everyone else doing.
I have a notebook too and am having to carry it everywhere with me. Never know when an idea will strike and I cannot rely on my memory to remember it until I have the chance to write it down. Checking in to see how you were doing with your goals.
Here are my goals and updates if you'd like to pay another visit 🙂

You have a great list Kristin! I especially like your goal of visiting different blogs. That's one of the great things about Bloggiesta…meeting new people 🙂
Have a productive and fun weekend!
Thanks Jennifer…yes, I love visiting other blogs, but it does tend to wind up with me adding new things to my to-do list as I see what everyone else is working on!
Good luck! Here's to productivity! 😀
Yes, same to you!!!
Great list! Updating your Goodreads TBR is a good thing to do … I'm sure mine is out of control!
Good luck!
I always try to look it over periodically, but haven't touched it in a while!
Oooh, I like the update Goodreads TBR one! I so need to do that. Good luck!
Thanks, same to you!
Wow, you have an impressive list! I do like visiting and seeing how everyone is changing and adding things (or deleting things).
Enjoy the party!
Here'sMY BLOGGIESTA POST
Yes, I like doing the same, although I do tend to end up finding more things to add to my to-do list!
I am so thrilled to see you are READING CHALLENGE ADDICTED too! LOL! WOW! You have a serious to do list. After reading yours I realized I forgot to add one. Update reviews on Audible.com. *sigh* This is never ending . I need two weeks.
Good Luck Chica! And have fun!
Yes, I can come to realize that blogging is definitely a never-ending cycle. Usually for me, it's getting behind on reviews, getting caught up, then getting behind once again!
Wow! That is quite a list.
Thanks…some of the things are quick and easy and some take more time. I don't mind if I don't get to everything – I just like putting it all out there.
These are some great goals, I hope you have fun working through them!
I've been struggling with the transition to a new feed reader. So far Feedly seems pretty good, but dang that's a lot of clicking just to see a post.
I am planning on spending a good chunk of time today looking into reader options. So annoying that Google is shutting down their reader!
Great list!
I'm so sad that Google Reader is shutting down…finding an alternative is such a pain in the a**
Okay, back to review writing…
Good luck and have fun! 🙂
I couldn't agree with you more about Google Reader…definitely annoying!
I got a bunch of reviews done yesterday, but still have more to do today.
Ooh, cleaning up your reader to prepare for this whole Feedly thing is a great idea. I may add this one to my list. Good luck, Kristin.
I know that I have blogs I was following that are not active anymore. Plus, I'm always behind in reading what's in my feeder. My goal is to start the new feeder with a clean slate so to speak!
Kristin I love your blog design. I also had the number 15 in blogs to visit that's participating in Bloggiesta this weekend but I think I've visited all the blogs (soon anyway) that are participating LOL
My Bloggiesta Goals
Have a great Bloggigesta weekend!
I can't take credit for the design – it was one of those stock ones, but I do love it!
I got caught up in reviews yesterday, so I am hoping to visit a lot more today!
Oh my goodness, my Goodreads TBR list is a mess! I also need to make it more realistic with my real to-read stuff! That is going to take a long time, but it'll be worth it once I do it!
Here is my Bloggiesta To Do List!
Yes, mine will take a while, too. I'm still debating whether I want to add new shelves to organize them.
You've got a lot to do! Good luck (:
Thanks…luckily got a bunch done yesterday!
What a great list, and you already made some good progress 🙂
Thanks…fortunately I had all day yesterday to work on things.
You've made some great progress so far! (you also reminded me to put my updates from yesterday on my post).
I'm working on my TBR right now as well.
Usually I do separate update posts, but decided I would try just doing one and updating it each morning this time around.
You are doing great. I knew I would be able to really get started until today but you inspire me. I'm hoping to be productive like you.
Oh, thanks…I'm sure you will be just as productive. I was lucky that I could devote the whole day yesterday and I got a ton done.
Congrats on the new Twitter! I hope you join us in the Twitter chats! It looks like you are moving right along – congrats and good luck with the rest!
I hope you check out my Bloggiesta To Do List or join my mini-challenge about getting involved!
I joined the twitter chat yesterday and it was fun until tweetchat stopped working for me…but I will definitely try again today.
These are all great goals! It looks as if you've accomplished a lot already!
Cleaning up your Goodreads TBR list is a good idea! I generally try to add only books I think I might forget about, and not books like the rest of a series I know I'm reading. I don't want to see a 500 books TBR list and worry I'll never finish!
For series I'm reading, I usually only add a book once I have it. I also tend to just add books I might forget. The problem is that sometimes I end up with books still on the tbr list that I've actually read.
Wow, that's a great list and you've gotten so much done! I had to keep my list pretty short this time, but I have found myself deviating from it, haha. But I actually did a lot of Bloggiesta-type things several weeks ago, cleaning up my blog and Goodreads library… And boy, beyond my to-do list, does it take time to visit all the blogs participating! 🙂 Yours is new to me, so I've followed across all the networks, grabbed your button, and added you to my blogroll. Hope you accomplish everything you want to this weekend!
Here is my Bloggiesta To-Do List.
Fantastic list, and well done on getting so much done! I had to update my review archive too, but luckily I did that early yesterday and I haven't got to worry about it for a little while again, haha! I need to write reviews too, but I'm putting that off for as long as I can, which isn't helpful at all.
That's an awesome list. I haven't been able to log as much time as I hoped this weekend. But hopefully today will be better. I've been going back and forth between Bloglovin and Feedly, and I've been using feedly more. Hope you find one that works for you!
Looks like you're making some terrific progress. I followed your new account on Twitter!
Joy's Book Blog
good for you! Sounds like you had a great weekend!
I thought I visited and commented earlier, but looks like I didn't comment. I've finally accepted that I'm never going to be all caught up with reviews, but it's fine to give myself an excuse to play around with all the other bloggy stuff a couple of times a year.
Sounds like you had a pretty productive weekend! Nice work 🙂
Great job! I signed up for Bloglovin too but haven't had a chance to really try it out yet. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
