The “First Lady of the West,” #1
New York Times
bestselling author Linda Lael Miller, welcomes you home to Parable, Montana-where love awaits. With
his father’s rodeo legacy to continue and a prosperous spread to run,
Walker Parrish has no time to dwell on wrecked relationships. But
country-western sweetheart Casey Elder is out of the spotlight and back
in Parable, Montana. And Walker can’t ignore that his “act now, think
later” passion for Casey has had consequences. Two teenage consequences!Keeping
her children’s paternity under wraps has always been part of Casey’s
plan to give them normal, uncomplicated lives. Now the best way to hold
her family together seems to be to let Walker be a part of it-as her
husband of convenience. Or will some secrets-like Casey’s desire to be
the rancher’s wife in every way-unravel, with unforeseen results?
My thoughts: Oh, Linda Lael Miller – you’ve done it again…I absolutely fell in love with another of your ‘Swoon-Worthy Cowboys.’ This is the 4th book in Linda Lael Miller’s Swoon-Worthy Cowboy series and I now think I have a new favorite cowboy!
We met Walker in one of the earlier books, and I have to say that I didn’t really like him. He came off as entitled and full of himself and just seemed to rub me the wrong way. In Big Sky Summer, we get to see another side of him – a vulnerable side of him as he struggles to find a way to be part of his children’s lives as well as their mother. He’s loved Casey ever since they first met, but their lives couldn’t be farther apart. He’s a rancher and she’s a big country music star. After not just one, but two separate nights of fun that ended with Casey pregnant both times, she made the decision to tell him, but requested that they keep it a secret. Now that she’s back in Parable, it’s hard to be around the kids without letting them know who he really is.
I liked Casey’s character – yes, she’s a big country star that enjoys the spotlight, but she also has a big heart. She selflessly puts on benefit concerts, agrees to sing at local weddings, offers her house for a reception site – all just because she enjoys doing for others. She’s always shielded her children from the media, but suddenly there’s the chance that all the secrets she’s kept, especially those about the kids’ paternity, will be leaked. Does she have anyway of striking first, before everything comes crashing down? Will Walker agree to her plan, and how will the kids react?
I loved watching Casey and Walker’s journey towards happily-ever-after. It was definitely not without it’s bumps, but watching them work together to solve their issues made them both more endearing. It proves that anything worth having is work – and sometimes that work is hard – but the end result is well-worth it!

This looks so great! Thanks for sharing with us! I adore that cover as well.
Did the author have any say on the design of the book cover? Also, who in the author's life encouraged them to sit down and write their first book?
Thanks for the giveaway!
