From New York Times
bestselling author Kate White comes a riveting psychological suspense
in which a media star must battle a malevolent enemy who may be
disturbingly close to her.

After losing her on-air job two years
ago, television host Robin Trainer has fought her way back and now
she’s hotter than ever. With her new show climbing in the ratings and
her first book a bestseller, she’s being dubbed a media double threat.

But
suddenly, things begin to go wrong. Small incidents at first: a nasty
note left in her purse; her photo shredded. But the obnoxious quickly
becomes threatening when the foundation the makeup artist uses burns
Robin’s face. It wasn’t an accident—someone had deliberately doctored
with the product.

An adversary with a dark agenda wants to hurt
Robin, and the clues point to someone she works with every day. While
she frantically tries to put the pieces together and unmask this hidden
foe, it becomes terrifyingly clear that the person responsible isn’t
going to stop until Robin loses everything that matters to her . . .
including her life.

My thoughts: I first became a fan of Kate White when she started writing her Bailey Weggins series and have devoured all those books. While writing those, Kate has also written a few stand-alones and this is the first that I’ve picked up.

This is a great psychological thriller – it sucks you in right from the first page and is very quick read. I found myself questioning everyone that Robin can into contact with, questioning everyone’s motives each time something new happened. Who was after Robin and why? A few times I even thought maybe Robin was the mastermind behind it all – that’s how good and twisted this book is. And each time I had settled on who I thought it was, a new clue would pop up, causing me to readjust my guess.

What I really liked about this book is that the frustration that Robin feels was so palpable. Even when I had my doubts about her, I was still anxious for her and had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. I also loved that each and every character was pretty well-developed.

As I mentioned, I’ve been a huge fan of Kate’s Bailey Weggins series, and while I patiently wait for the next one in that series to come out, I think I’ll be going back to read Kate’s other stand-alone books as this one was pretty darn good!

About the author: Kate White is the New York Times bestselling author of nine works of fiction—six Bailey Weggins mysteries and three suspense novels, including, Eyes on You, which will be published in June. For fourteen years she was the editor in chief of Cosmopolitan magazine,
and though she loved the job (and the Cosmo beauty closet!), she
decided to leave in late 2013 to concentrate full time on being an
author. Her books have received starred reviews from a variety of
publications and she has been covered everyplace from The Today Show to The New York Times. Her first Bailey Weggins mystery, If Looks Could Kill,
was named as the premier Reading with Ripa selection and soon shot to
number one on Amazon. (And it’s now being made into an opera!). She is
published in 18 countries around the world. Kate is also the author of
several very popular career books, including I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This: How to Ask for the Money, Snag the Promotion, and Create the Career You Deserve, and Why Good Girls Don’t Get Ahead but Gutsy Girls Do.

I read and enjoyed 1 on her Bailey Weggins books ages ago and really liked it. I have no idea why I never picked up another one. I'll definitely have to check this book out and look for some of her other ones as well.

I have good things about this and it is on my wishlist now. I didn't bother starting the Bailey series because I was mistaken about it and thought she was done with it. If it is still an ongoing series, then I will certainly look for book #1. Thanks.

I have yet to get to her Weggins series. I have liked her stand alone books and look forward to this one.
