Another crazy week work-wise which means that I had little time for reading. I’m also trying to get a jump on some of my Christmas presents – I’m making scarves for a few of my nieces and then I have a bunch of baby blankets to make for the new additions that should be making their appearances within the next month or so – a new niece on my husband’s side and a new niece or nephew (they aren’t finding out) on my side. A good family friend is having twins any day now, too, so as soon as those babies are born, I can start on their blankets! Lots to crocheting to do which competes with my reading time, but I can crochet while I watch my tv shows, so at least I feel like I’m being somewhat productive while watching those shows!

So many little ones coming your way. I love it! My mom always crochets or knits a new blanket for all the babies in our family too. I can't wait for her to make blankets for my babies (whenever at some point in my life that happens. HA!). Maybe you can look into audiobooks while you're working on the blankets too. Sometimes I do listen to audio books while I crochet – I even listen while cooking and cleaning! Great way to still "read" while doing other things!
It's tasks like knitting that are great for audiobooking. I hemmed my husbands pjs yesterday with a book. I could never figure out what to do when I had an audiobook, so a hand task that engages a different part of my brain – the one that thinks I should be moving and doing; the part that distracts me, is perfect.

Yes, at times I do listen to audiobooks while crocheting, but with all the tv shows just starting up, I find it's a good way to watch them and still feel like I'm being productive!

I finished it yesterday afternoon – it's a beautiful holiday story! I really hope she continues to write Christmas books – it's fun to visit Nantucket during the holidays!!!
I love that you are making Christmas gifts..how lovely. Does your kindle have text to talk or how about audiobooks ..you could listen and make presents?
I don't actually have a kindle – I have an iPad with the kindle app. I do at times listen to audiobooks while I crochet, but with all the fall shows just starting up, I feel like I'm already behind on them so crocheting and watching tv works right now.
I have dreams of learning to knit but am not quite there yet! I do like tasks that I can do while watching TV though I have been mixing audio books in as well. I basically want to read all the books you've mentioned. I've heard great things about Diane Chamberlain and want to read Hilderbrand as well. Have a great week!
I never learned to knit, but my sister-in-law and mother-in-law do that. I had a hard enough time learning to crochet b/c I'm left-handed and both my mom and grandmother, who also crochet, are right-handed. I actually had to take a class when I was young to learn.
Did you hear about the Read-along that Tamara from Traveling with T is doing for Diane Chamberlain's new book? It's 3 weeks long and starts this week.
I love Elin Hilderbrand's books – I've read them all and they just keep getting better and better. This is her first holiday book and it was great!

I bought my first Christmas present (for my grandson) last week. It will be here before we know it. We got a few of the same books from Netgalley. Hope you have a great week.
Yes – I can't believe how quickly time is going. I have 17 nieces/nephews to buy for at Christmas, so I started making my lists early! Luckily a few of my nieces wanted the scarf I had made the oldest niece (she's 16) last year, including that same niece (just in a different color) so all I had to do was decide on colors and could get them going.
Good luck with making all the blankets! I haven't crocheted in awhile (I'm a beginner) but I did enjoy crocheting in the winter while watching TV.
I am curious about the new Diane Chamberlain book. It sounds really good.
Yes – I definitely find I crochet more in the fall/winter than I do in the summer.

Keen to hear your thoughts on some of them. I was disappointed in the Lisa Jackson. I liked Dear Daughter and I have the Lisa Ungers on my TBR pile as well!
I'm almost done with the Lisa Jackson book – it's my first book by her. So far, I'm enjoying it. I absolutely love Lisa Unger – did you read her last book, In the Blood – one of my favorite reads of 2014!

I do find that depending on the yarn I'm using and what stitch I'm doing, I sometimes need my reading glasses to see what I'm doing!
I'm just starting to get back into knitting these days… good luck with all of your projects. The paperback cover to The Wife, the Maid,and the Mistress is amazing – I loved that book. The Silent Sister looks good, too.

As long as I'm not counting, I can crochet. When I'm first starting a project, I need quiet, but after that, I'm good!
I'm still a beginner crocheter, I've made a baby beanie and flowers for scrapbooking. I still have to pay attention so can't watch tv and crochet lol. Loved The Silent Sister and I'm looking forward to The Tudor Vendetta too. Have a great week and happy reading and crocheting 🙂
