2015 Library Challenges (2 different ones!)

There were 2 Library Challenges that I was torn between signing up for so I decided I would sign up and participate in both!!!

The first one, Readers to the Rescue Library Challenge, is being hosted by Sheila over at Book Journey. Not only is she encouraging us to use our library, but she also wants us to get to know our library. What does your library offer besides books.

For me, this is easy. I love my library and the library system in my county. One of the first things I did when I moved here almost six years ago was get my library card. There are 17 libraries in our country plus we are connected to two other counties, which means when I go online to look for a book, I have access to quite a lot of libraries.

Our library also has a great children’s and teen program. Every year, they do a huge Battle of the Books for the teens, and last year, my library came in first place! They have a rather substantial dvd and cd collection as well as video game selection for loan. There are also computers to use both in the children’s section as well as in the adult section.

There are a few reading clubs at the library. There’s the Friends of the Library book club that meets every other month. There’s also a teen book club and then there’s the summer reading club. I love seeing all the young kids coming in during the summer to report on the books they’ve read!

I’m at the library at least every other week for work (I work for Literacy Volunteers and our tutors meet with their students at the libraries – another reason I love our libraries!!!) dropping off materials for our tutors or picking stuff up. I always love to walk around the libraries and see what catches my eye. I’ve been known to walk out with a book or audiobook everyone in a while, whether I needed it or not! I also love the library buildings themselves in my county. Some of them are so quaint and cozy while others, still nice, are larger and more industrial-like.

So, that’s my plug for libraries. I love visiting the libraries in my area and hope that by participating in both these challenges, I will double my chances of being successful!!!

The Level I’m signing up for is: Seasoned – 17-22 checkouts in 2015

The other one is Snagged @ the Library, hosted by Geeky Bloggers Book Blog & The Book Nympho.

The level I’m signing up for is:  Thrifty Reader – 24 books
