Nicole Lord wants to be
a good wife, but there’s a difference between being supportive and
supporting her husband, who quit his job to write a screenplay she’s
never seen. He won’t even help take care of their son, leaving Nicole to
run the house and work full-time at her Mischief Bay Pilates studio.
Can she say enough is enough without losing the man she loves?Sacrificing
a personal life for her career is how Shannon Rigg rose to become vice
president in her firm, but she wonders now whether she made the right
choice. An exciting new relationship with a great guy convinces her that
it might not be too late—until he drops a bombshell that has her
questioning whether she can have it all. And if she can, does she want
it?Although Pam Eiland has a beautiful house and a husband she
adores, she feels… restless. She wonders who a stay-at-home mom becomes
after the kids are grown. Finding sexy new ways to surprise her husband
brings the heat and the humor back to their marriage, but when
unexpected change turns her life upside down, she’ll have to redefine
herself. Again.Through romance and heartbreak, laughter and
tears, three very different women will discover that friends can become
family, and that life is richer with sisters at your side.
My thoughts: This is the first book in Susan Mallery’s newest series, Mischief Bay and I loved it!!! I’ve long been a fan of her books, having read almost all of her series – Fool’s Gold, the Buchanans, the Lone Star Sisters, the Bakery Sisters, the Marcellis and the Blackberry Island series. It was the Blackberry Island series that actually planted the seed for this newest series.
I loved the characters in this book. I loved that these three women – Nicole, Shannon and Pam – had such a strong friendship despite their age difference. They looked out for each other and really showed what it meant to be a true friend. These women are in different stages of their lives and have different backgrounds, yet they look to each other for support, friendship and advice. I found myself relating to each of them at various times throughout the book and that’s not always the case in a book about three main characters.
I loved that this book has a completely different feel to it than Susan’s Fool’s Gold series, which she is still writing. That series, I feel is more romance driven – nothing wrong with that as I enjoy those books just as much, but this one is a little heavier and it has a little more substance to it. It’s more of an emotional read than just that happily-ever-after read that I find with the Fool’s Gold series. That’s not to say that there aren’t some humorous scenes in the book, because of course there are – quite a few, in fact. But the balance it just perfect.
I am really looking forward to seeing how this series plays out. Will Nicole, Shannon and Pam be featured in all the books of the series or will we be meeting new characters in each subsequent book? I guess only time will tell…and you can be sure I will be continuing with this series!

I agree! I LOVED every moment of this!! I still keep wanting to visit them & see how they are.
Yes so loved this one too and can't wait for Nicole's story to be furthered, I think that's what may happen next.
This sounds good. I've kind of gotten tired of the Fool's Gold series but still enjoy Mallery's writing style if that makes sense. Adding this to the TBR!
The books are new to me. I also like the cover.
I'm thrilled that you are so impressed with the start of this new series! It's one I want to dive into myself asap!
Thanks for being a part of the tour.
