My thoughts: I love finding new-to-me authors that just fall into my lap and that is exactly what happened with this book. I had reached out to the publisher about another book and I ended up with not only that book, but this one, too and I am so glad because I ended up really enjoying it! And it’s a debut novel, too – even better!!!
This book is such a fun, addicting read that totally gets under your skin as you read. It’s told from multiple perspectives and as you get to meet the three women, you will find yourself wondering just what is going on. It’s one of those books that not only has you wanting to keep reading because each chapter ends with a bit of an “aha” moment, but it also has relatively short chapters which begs you to keep reading.
I love how this book explores the line between hope and madness. Sometimes it’s such a fine line between the two and all it takes is a slight nudge to push you from one side to the other. It’s really hard to know which character is reliable the deeper you get into the book and so it becomes harder to know who’s motivations are pure and who’s are not. I found myself constantly second-guessing each and every one of the character’s motivations and actions – and I have to say, I loved it – you really can’t trust anyone and it definitely keeps you on your toes.
While I did guess what happened early on, it in no way detracted from my enjoyment of this book. I still didn’t have all the pieces and I enjoyed seeing how it all played out before the final reveal. Plus, the ending is a bit dramatic!
This is definitely a binge-worthy, addictive read that I devoured in two days – and I definitely recommend it. I will totally be keeping an eye out for whatever comes next from this author, for sure!
