Detective Alex Cross is being stalked by a psychotic genius, forced to play the deadliest game of his career.

Cross’s
family-his loving wife Bree, the wise and lively Nana Mama, and his
precious children-have been ripped away. Terrified and desperate, Cross
must give this mad man what he wants if he has any chance of saving the
most important people in his life. The stakes have never been higher:
What will Cross sacrifice to save the ones he loves?

Widely praised by the greatest crime and thriller writers of our time, Cross My Heart set a jaw-dropping story in motion. Hope to Die
propels Alex Cross’s greatest challenge to its astonishing finish,
proving why Jeffery Deaver says “nobody does it better” than James
Patterson.

***Short & Sweet Reviews are
short, quick reviews. These will mainly be used for series books where I
have already done full reviews on some of the earlier books or for
books that I feel will suffice with a quick review. These will not be
used for review requests or blog tours.

My thoughts: I love James Patterson’s books and the Alex Cross series is definitely a favorite. But, as we all know, the books can be hit or miss…but let me just say, this one was definitely a hit! This was one of the best Alex Cross books I’ve read and it reminded me of why I fell in love with this series in the first place.

This was a adrenaline-fueled cat and mouse game from start to finish, picking up right where the last book ended and if you don’t believe in reading series in order, at least do yourself the favor of reading the prior book, Cross Your Heart, before picking this one up so that you get what is going on.

I can only hope that the momentum that Jame Patterson has developed in this book continues moving forward. The feel of this story was like reading the early books in this series and I loved those books and I would love to have that feel back.
