My thoughts: This is the third novel by the writing duo Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen and I am absolutely a fan of their work. They have such a knack for writing fun, clever, binge-worthy psychological thrillers. 

I loved that this latest book was slightly different from their previous books in that there were multiple points of view this time around. Yes, we still had our main characters – Shay and the Moore sisters – but interspersed throughout were the points of view of a few other characters and I think that really rounded out the story. It gives it a little more depth and you understand the dynamics in this group that much more.

This book is fueled by revenge, lies and deceit and I loved that just like in the previous book, the twists weren’t huge, but rather small and subtle. It definitely keeps you hooked, though, as you desperately try to piece together what exactly is going on and, more importantly, just where everything is headed. It may be slightly predictable at times, but it is so worth the ride…this is one book that I could not put down, even on audio! 

I loved the characters, even the ones I didn’t particularly care for, because I think they all made the story that much richer. I’ve come to find that it’s the unlikeable characters that really tend to make a story more dynamic at times.

This cat and mouse game is one that will certainly keep you engaged from start to finish. I found myself instantly hooked from the beginning and while I did question some of the characters’ actions a time or two, I still found myself eager to find out how it would all play out and was utterly shocked at the final reveal. These authors certainly know how to keep it close to the vest until the right time. They have certainly shown they have staying power and have earned a place on my must-read list for sure.





Audio thoughts: This is the first time I decided to listen to one of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s books and it was such a fun experience. I think their books naturally lend themselves quite well to audio and the two narrators that did the audio were perfect for this book. They really did quite a good job with the sections they had, making this book come alive, infusing their voices with just the right amount of tension and emotion as needed. It was a good book to listen to and I’m glad I had the opportunity to do so.
