My thoughts: This is the first book I’ve read by Amber Cowie but if her other books are anything like this one, I will for sure be reading more by her. This was so atmospheric and twisted and I loved it!
This one grabbed me from the get-go and I feel like it never let go. I was completely captivated and not once did I see where it was headed. I loved all the twists and turns it took and it kept me turning the pages, holding my breath as I tried so hard to piece together what was going on. I am always a fan of the unreliable narrator but this one took it to a new level.
This character-driven story really gets under your skin and you won’t know who to trust…those are always my favorite kinds of stories and this one totally delivers. It’s not a fast-paced story by any means but one that will keep you hooked as you try to work out just what is going on in this small town. The residents that Mallory meets are downright quirky and it makes it that much more chilling in trying to figure out who is trustworthy and who is not.
I cannot recommend this one enough. It totally took me by surprise in the best way and I will definitely be checking out Amber Cowie’s backlist right away!
