Summary:
A brilliant and touching romantic comedy from the USA Today best-selling author of The Friend Zone and The Happy Ever After Playlist.
When
Vanessa Price quit her job to pursue her dream of traveling the globe,
she wasn’t expecting to gain millions of YouTube followers who shared
her joy of seizing every moment. For her, living each day to its fullest
isn’t just a motto. Her mother and sister never saw the age of 30, and
Vanessa doesn’t want to take anything for granted.
But after her
half sister suddenly leaves Vanessa in custody of her baby daughter,
life goes from “daily adventure” to “next-level bad” (now with bonus
baby vomit in hair). The last person Vanessa expects to show up offering
help is the hot lawyer next door, Adrian Copeland. After all, she
barely knows him. No one warned her that he was the Secret Baby Tamer or
that she’d be spending a whole lot of time with him and his geriatric
Chihuahua.
Now she’s feeling things she’s vowed not to feel.
Because the only thing worse than falling for Adrian is finding a little
hope for a future she may never see.
My thoughts: This is Abby Jimenez’s third book and as much as I have really enjoyed all three of these books, I really think this might be my favorite one yet. If you have followed me for any time here, you know that romance books aren’t my typical jam, but there is just something magical about this author’s books and I will read anything and everything Abby writes.
While this is technically the third book in the Friend Zone series, I really feel that this one in particular does stand on it’s own. The other two really should be read in order due to the content of those books, but not so much with this one. Here we have brand new characters which I really appreciated. So, if you haven’t read The Friend Zone and The Happily Ever After Playlist, not to worry. You can totally pick this one up, but I do recommend reading those as they are definitely worth the hype!
Once again, this author manages to evoke ALL the emotions in one book. I can’t tell you the last time I laughed out loud and then cried over the course of a single book over and over again. I fell in love with both Vanessa and Adrian right off the bat and could do nothing else until I finished this story. This was definitely a one-sitting read – or listen in my case – but either way, I was completely transfixed by this story. The way that Abby is able to work in so many heavy issues, but also use humor to keep things light – it all works.
I cannot recommend this book enough. I know it’s just a story, but it’s one with such strong messages about loving without holding back, living life without reservations and making the most out of what we have. I cannot wait to see what comes next from this very talented author!
Audio thoughts: This
audio was so good and I was glad to see that Zachary Webber was back
again. I really enjoyed his narration from the previous book even though
now he was voicing a different character. Christine Lakin is a familiar narrator to me. Both these narrators nailed this audio and all-in-all this
book was just pure fun to listen to.
