Police by Jo Nesbo #bookreview #shortandsweetreview #series

I purchased this book for my own personal collection.

Publisher: Vintage Crime/Black Lizard

Published: July 15, 2014 (first published 2013)

Summary:

The police urgently need Harry Hole.

A killer is stalking Oslo’s streets. Police officers are being slain at the scenes of crimes they once investigated, but failed to solve. The murders are brutal, the media reaction hysterical.

But this time, Harry can’t help anyone.

For years, detective Harry Hole has been at the centre of every major criminal investigation in Oslo. His dedication to his job and his brilliant insights have saved the lives of countless people. But now, with those he loves most facing terrible danger, Harry can’t protect anyone.

Least of all himself.

My thoughts:

Here we are at book 10 in the Harry Hole series and this one just might be my favorite one to date. Just when I thought Jo Nesbo couldn’t get any better, along comes this dark, thrilling story that kept me engaged and entertained the entire time.

This story picked up right where the previous book, Phantom, left off, which was quite suspenseful as we weren’t quite sure what had happened to Harry and he doesn’t make an appearance right away. The reveal, though, was perfectly played!

I love a good serial killer storyline and this one is probably one one of the best ones I’ve read – someone is targeting the police by luring them to the cold cases they never solved. Just brilliant! And it’s also quite gruesome, but I’ve come to expect that when reading these types of books, so that didn’t bother me. The pressure to figure out who is behind these murders is high and I really had a hard time figuring out who was behind things. And the character development continues to be topnotch. I will say I was quite shocked at what transpired with one…but to say anything would be a spoiler.

Definitely looking forward to picking up the next book!
