Month in Review: March 2023

Usually, I feel that March is a long month, but somehow this year it flew by! I guess because I had a lot going on? I don’t know. I do know that I read some really good books and participated in a bunch of different book club meetings and online buddy reads. I just love reading and discussing books with others.

Now I’m just hoping April brings the warm weather so I can finally start sitting outside to read! I love being outdoors on my back deck or front porch…there’s just something about reading outside. Hopefully we have seen the last of the colder weather…I’m so over it!

MY TOP 5 OF MARCH:

***I saw this on a friend’s blog and really liked it, so I’m adding it to my monthly wrap-ups.

  1. Favorite book(s) of March – these books are the ones I absolutely loved and will be recommending to everyone. They will be staying on my shelf and might even be rereads at some point in the future.
    • Weyward
    • Red Queen
    • Beyond That, the Sea
    • Trespasses
    • The Last Beekeeper
  2. Biggest Surprise of MarchStrangers in the Night by Heather Webb. This book really took me by surprise, and I’m sorry I don’t have my review up yet, but it is coming soon. I fully admit that I did not know much about the love story between Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner before reading this book, so this was quite the eye-opener, but, wow did Heather do a fantastic job bringing it to life! I highly recommend adding this book to your reading list if it’s not on it already – the book is already out! I loved it so much that I am going to have my bookclub read it and I cannot wait to discuss it with everyone!
  3. Biggest Disappointment of March: For the most part I enjoyed every book I read this month. I did think I would like The Golden Spoon a bit more than I did. The premise was fun, but I just didn’t love it as much as I was hoping to.
  4. Favorite Part of Month – I did an IG Live with Heather Webb, author of the book, Strangers in the Night and we had such a great time discussing her book. I have been enjoying doing these author lives and hope to get a few more lined up soon!
  5. 5 Books I’m most looking forward to reading next month:
    • Homecoming by Kate Morton – This is an author I want to read more of…I loved her last book and have quite a few of her other books sitting on my shelf just waiting to be read.  Out 4/4
    • The House is on Fire by Rachel Beanland – I loved her last book, Florence Adler Swims Forever and this new one, a historical fictional piece, is inspired by a true story.  Out 4/4
    • Soulmate by Sally Hepworth – I just love Sally’s books and this one, which I already read, is another winner! Out 4/4 (Review coming soon!!!)
    • A Truth for a Truth by Carol Wyer – This is the latest book in the Detective Kate Young series, which I love. Out 4/6
    • The Connelly’s of County Down by Tracey Lange – I loved Tracey Lange’s debut novel, We Are the Brennan’s and so I’m so excited to be able to read an early copy of her new book. I’m participating in a read-together of this one during the month of April with a bunch of bookstagrammers and I cannot wait to get started! Stay tuned for more information on this one. Out 8/1

So tell me, what was your favorite read of the month? What are you looking forward to reading in April?
