1928, Paris

A boy is found, moments from death, and taken in by a kindly family. Gentle, precocious, talented, he flourishes in his new home, and the family show him a life he hadn’t dreamed possible. But he refuses to speak a word about who is really is.

As he grows into a young man, falling in love and taking classes at the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris, he can almost forget the terrors of his past, or the promise he has vowed to keep. But across Europe an evil is rising, and no-one’s safety is certain. In his heart, he knows the time will come where he must flee once more.

2008, the Aegean

The seven sisters are gathered together for the first time, on board the Titan to say a final goodbye to the enigmatic father they loved so dearly.

To the surprise of everyone, it is the missing sister who Pa Salt has chosen to entrust with the clue to their pasts. But for every truth revealed, another question emerges. The sisters must confront the idea that their adored father was someone they barely knew. And even more shockingly: that these long-buried secrets may still have consequences for them today.

Spanning a lifetime of love and loss, crossing borders and oceans, Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt draws the Seven Sisters series to its stunning, unforgettable conclusion.

My thoughts:

This was one of my most anticipated books of the year. I have been a loyal Lucinda Riley fan for years and her Seven Sisters series is one of my all-time favorite series. I have loved each and every book in that series, recommending it to everyone I know. And while I was so eager to get my hands on this last book and finally get all the answers we’ve been wanting basically since the first book, I was also a bit terrified to read it because I just didn’t want my time with these characters that I had come to love come to an end.

If the fact that I read this book in 48 hours tells you anything, then you know I absolutely loved it. I couldn’t wait to start this one and did nothing but read every spare minute I had…which is quite the feat considering this is just shy of 700 pages. As soon as I opened the first page, I was immediately back in the world that Lucinda has created with this series…it’s just so magical how she does that. I can’t remember a book where I was so emotionally invested, and yes, I finished this one with tears streaming down my face…it was just that good!

This book is just what I wanted it to be – it completely met all my expectations and then some. It answered all the questions I had about Pa Salt and gave us his backstory in such a compelling, masterful way that I was able to really picture who he was and why he did what he did. It was an epic love story and family saga that took us all around the world and brought us together with the sisters one last time.

All along I had trouble picking a favorite sister and seeing them once again, I stand firm that in their own ways, they all have unique traits that make them a favorite for different reasons. Pa Salt in many ways helped guide them to be the person they turned out to be because of who he is.

If you haven’t read this series, I highly, highly recommend it. I have all the books on my shelf and I know this will be a series I will be rereading in the future…and I cannot wait!
