Summary:
From the bestselling author of My Lovely Wife comes a reckless, delicious thriller about a young couple that gives a whole new meaning to the dangers of modern dating.
Wes and Ivy are madly in love. They’ve never felt anything like it. It’s the kind of romance people write stories about.
But what kind of story?
Because when it’s good, it’s great. Flowers. Grand gestures. Deep meaningful conversations where the whole world disappears.
When it’s bad, it’s really bad. Vengeful fights. Damaged property. Arrest warrants.
But their vicious cycle of catastrophic breakups and head-over-heels reconnections needs to end fast. Because suddenly, Wes and Ivy have a common enemy–and she’s a detective.
There’s something Wes and Ivy never talk about–in good times or bad. The night of their worst breakup, when one of them took things too far, and someone ended up dead.
If they can stick together, they can survive anything–even the tightening net of a police investigation.
Because one more breakup might just be their last…
My thoughts:
Somehow this is the first book I’ve read by Samantha Downing…though I do have two of her other books sitting on my shelf. I have been meaning to read her for quite some time and I am so glad I finally did…and I’ll definitely be moving those other two books to the top of my tbr pile for sure!
This was such a crazy, chaotic love story. Talk about a toxic relationship, yet somehow Wex and Ivy can’t seem to stay away from each other, breaking up and then finding their way back to one another time and time again. There is this bond between them that cannot be broken, no matter how much they hurt each other. But this time it’s a little different when the cops are involved.
What I loved most about this one how unexpected it was. I never knew what these characters would do next. And as much as I would start to not like them after something happened, the next thing I knew, I would find myself liking them and cheering them on after something else happened. It really was quite the wild ride and unlike anything I’ve read before.
I really liked this one and as I already said, I’m quite eager to read Samantha’s backlist now. This is definitely a wild, crazy ride and a good one for your summer reading!
Audio thoughts:
This is another one that I had to listen to because I saw that Karissa Vacker was narrating! She is one of my favorites and I never pass up an opportunity to listen to her. She did a fantastic job bringing this one to life and I found myself completely engaged and listening every chance I got!
