And just like that, half the year has gone by…how is that possible? Summer is finally here, weather-wise and I am loving it!!! I’ve been out paddle boarding in the mornings and then reading outside whenever I have the chance. I also started working one or two days a week at the cutest independent bookstore on the north fork of Long Island, called A Book Place, located in Riverhead. I just love being there…surrounded by books, talking about books, helping the customers find something to read – it’s become one of my new happy places to be!
I had another good month of reading – lots of audio books this month, which is pretty fitting as June is Audiobook Month! My current obsession is the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter – I’m determined to be caught up in that series so that when the new book comes out in August, I will be ready!

MY TOP 5 OF JUNE:
***I saw this on a friend’s blog and really liked it, so I’m adding it to my monthly wrap-ups.
- Favorite book(s) of June – these books are the ones I absolutely loved and will be recommending to everyone. They will be staying on my shelf and might even be rereads at some point in the future.
- The Long Way Back
- All the Sinners Bleed
- Lay Your Body Down
- The Quiet Tenant
- Before She Finds Me
- Biggest Surprise of June: How much I enjoyed Lay Your Body Down…the cult/religious aspect of this book was just done so well and I loved the way the book was structured. I cannot wait to read more by this author!
- Biggest Disappointment of June: I thought I would like The New Mother more than I did, especially after loving her last book so much. But I still enjoy the author’s writing and am looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next.
- Favorite Part of Month – Going to Clemence Michallon’s book event for The Quiet Tenant at The Mysterious Bookshop. I love going to author events and hearing all about the author’s inspiration for their book, their writing process and everything else. I had already read this book prior to the event – and loved it! – so going in and hearing the inside scoop was just icing on the cake!
- 5 Books I’m most looking forward to reading next month:
- Hello Stranger by Katherine Center – I just adore Katherine Center’s books. Her books just make me happy and I’m excited for this new one. Out 7/11
- The Summer of Songirds by Kristy Woodson Harvey – I have been a fan of Kristy Woodson Harvey ever since her first book, Dear Carolina, came out. Out 7/11
- The Clearing by Simon Toyne – This is the next installment in the Laughton Rees series and I just recently read the first book, Dark Objects, which I really enjoyed! Out 7/11
- Thicker Than Water by Megan Collins – I am a big fan of Megan Collin’s thrillers and this one sounds so good. Out 7/11
- Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent – I am a huge fan of Liz Nugent and have been making my way through her backlist but am super excited for this new one. Out 7/18
So tell me, what was your favorite read of the month? What are you looking forward to reading in July?
