Summary:
Obsession. Intrigue. Revenge. Whose secrets are you keeping? And why?
A woman falls to her death from a London bank’s twenty-fifth-floor roof terrace.
You’re arrested for her murder.
You tell the police that you had only met the victim the previous night at your office party. She was threatening to jump from the roof, but you had talked her down.
You’ve got nothing to do with this tragedy. You’re clearly being framed.
So why do the police keep picking holes in your story? Even your lawyer doesn’t seem to believe you.
It soon becomes obvious that you’re keeping secrets.
But who are you trying to protect? And why?
Obsession. Intrigue. Revenge.
My thoughts:
This is Ruth Mancini’s U.S. debut and I am a fan! I sure hope the rest of her books make their way to our side of the pond…or I guesss I’ll be ordering them from one of the UK bookstores!
I love a book where nothing is as it seems and that is exactly what happens here. This thriller kept me guessing all the way through. Every single time I thought I had even a tiny fraction of an idea of where things were headed, a new twist was thrown our way to shake it all up…and I could not have loved it more! This is definitely not a book I would call predictable in any way. It’s so cleverly plotted, deeply emotional and utterly thrilling, and I found myself completely captivated from start to finish.
I think what really made this one so unique are the characters that we meet here. They are so well developed and even though they are incredibly flawed, you can’t help but want more of them. And even though they are not all likeable, they still manage to have a strange pull on you, to keep you invested in what is going on.
If you like an addictive, dark, psychological thriller that is going to keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time, this one is for you!
Audio thoughts:
This audiobook was so well done, with the narrator, Annabel Scholey, really doing a fantastic job! There are quite a few different perpectives and yet I never had any issues knowing where I was at any time.
Purchasing from the link below supports independent bookstores and my blog!
This sounds very intriguing. Thanks for the review.
