Another month come and gone…and while the calendar says May, the temperature doesn’t always feel it. I’ve gotten a few outside reading days in, but not many. I have a feeling we are going to go straight to the dog days of summer, not that I don’t love summer temps, but it would be nice to have those nice Spring days.
April ended up being a pretty decent month despite how busy I ended up being. I attended the Hamptons Whodunit again this year and had the best time and now I’m looking forward to the next book festival I’ll be going to – Thrillerfest!!! This one in at the end of May in New York City and I’m so excited. Of course, because I’ll be there all week, that means little to no reading during that time, but I’m ok with it – I’ll be mingling with some of my favorite thriller and crime fiction authors!

MY TOP 5 OF APRIL:
***I did this last year and am going to continue it again this year, with a few modifications.
- Favorite book(s) of April – these books are the ones I absolutely loved and will be recommending to everyone. They will be staying on my shelf and might even be rereads at some point in the future.
- Two Nights in Lisbon
- She’s Not Sorry
- The Woman on the Ledge
- You Know What You Did
- Safe and Sound
- Biggest Surprise of April: How much I still managed to read despite being away for a long weekend and having a few other busy weekends. That just goes to show, when you make reading a priority, you read the pages read/audiobook time in.
- Newly Acquired Books I’m Super Excited About: This month I received quite a few books I cannot wait to read:
- All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker, out June 25th
- Trust Her by Flynn Berry, out June 25th
- The Examiner by Janice Hallett, out September 10th
- Favorite Part of April – Attending the 2nd Hamptons Whodunit Mystery and Crime Festival in East Hampton, NY. I went with a group of friends and we had the best time, catching up, seeing so many authors we knew and listening to some great panels. I can’t wait to go back again next year!
- 5 Books I’m most looking forward to reading next month:
- The Return of Ellie Black by Emiko Jean – I hear been hearing nothing but rave reviews for this one & cannot wait to read it. It’s the author’s debut thriller! Out May 7th.
- Every Time We Say Goodbye by Natalie Jenner– This is the 3rd book in her Jane Austen Society series and I’ve really enjoyed the previous 2 books. Out May 14th.
- Last House by Jessica Shattuck – A historical epic that doubles as a family saga – yes, please! Out May 14th.
- The Last Murder at the End of the World by Stuart Turton– I really liked his last book and am excited for this new one – they are always such great reads! Out May 21st.
- When We Were Silent by Fiona McPhillips– A dark academic thriller…that’s all I needed to know about this one to say yes when asked about it. Out May 21st.
So tell me, what was your favorite read of the month? What are you looking forward to reading in the next month?
