Month in Review: July 2024

It was a weird July. I managed to get a lot of reading time in, mostly via audiobooks but that’s because I was home a lot. Life is chaotic right now and we are adjusting to a lot of changes. And there are more to come…wait until next month’s update!

I am really trying to get caught up with my reviews and my Goodreads reading log. I am trying to do a little each day so it’s not too overwhelming. Hopefully I’ll have made some decent progress by next month’s update.

MY TOP 5 OF JULY:

***I did this last year and am going to continue it again this year, with a few modifications.

  1. Favorite book(s) of July – these books are the ones I absolutely loved and will be recommending to everyone. They will be staying on my shelf and might even be rereads at some point in the future.
    • Jackie
    • All This & More
    • The Beach at Summerly
    • The Lion Women of Tehran
    • The God of the Woods
  2. Biggest Surprise of July: How much I loved All This & More – it is an Adult Choose Your Own Adenture book and will absolutely be making my top reads of the year list!
  3. Newly Acquired Books I’m Super Excited About: This month I received quite a few books I cannot wait to read:
    • The Sequel by Jean Hanff Korelitz, out October 1st
    • The Stolen Queen by Fiona Davis, out January 7th
    • What Happened to the McCrays? by Tracey Lange, out January 14th
  4. Favorite Part of July – I was able to attend 2 bookish events and both were just what I needed this month to help me get back into the swing of things. One was a book signing for Peng Shepherd, the author of All This & More; the other was a Literary Cocktails event hosted by a publisher introducing us to 3 upcoming 2025 titles that sound amazing!
  5. 5 Books I’m most looking forward to reading next month:
    • The Chamber by Will Dean – I have come to love Will Dean’s books and this new one sounds like quite an atmospheric, creepy read! Out August 6th.
    • The Kill List by Nadine Matheson – This is the 3rd book in Nadine Matheson’s Inspector Anjelica Henley series and I am a huge fan of this series!! Out August 6th.
    • Dear Hanna by Zoje Stage – This is a follow-up to Baby Teeth, which came out a while ago. Out August 13th.
    • By Any Other Name by Jodi Picoult – A new Jodi Picoult book is always a must-read!  Out August 20th.
    • This Is Why We Lied by Karin Slaughter– This latest installment in her Will Trent series…I can’t wait to start this one! Out August 20th.

So tell me, what was your favorite read of the month? What are you looking forward to reading in the next month?
