I’m reading The Shoemaker’s Wife by Adriana Trigiani:
The scalloped hem of Caterina Lazzari’s blue velvet coat grazed the fresh-fallen snow, leaving a pale pink path on the bricks as she walked across the empty piazza.
I just started reading this book last night, so I am only about 25 pages into it, but so far, I like it. I really enjoy Adriana Trigiani’s writing and am already captivated by the story line. Have you read this one yet? Have you read anything else by Adriana Trigiani?
Hi Kristin,
I love those opening lines, the stark picture and colours they conjure up, are so vivid.
I have a couple of 'Trigiani' books in my TBR mountain, although I have yet to read any of them. This particular book seems to have been going around the blogging circuit this week and everyone really seems to rate it highly.
If you check this one out on Amazon.co.uk, you will see that the cover has been quite a different makeover from your own. I'm not sure which one I prefer, they are so totally diverse.
Thanks for stopping by Fiction Books today, it is so good to 'meet' you, I always love chatting to new to me bloggers and exchanging comments and views.
Have a great weekend,
Yvonne
Hi Yvonne: I have seen this book around the blogosphere a lot lately myself – it was just released. I was able to reserve it from the library and picked it up yesterday.
I've read a few other of her books – the first 2 in the Valentine series, Lucia, Lucia, and the first in the Big Stone Gap series. I like her style of writing.
I looked up the UK cover – I'm not sure which one I like better. They are definitely very different from each other.
Thanks for stopping by here – and you're right, it is fun meeting new bloggers!
What a lovely description! I really want to read this book…thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
Hi Laurel:
Yes, it's a great description – very visual! Thanks for stopping by here, too.
Actually I haven't, but I'm intrigued by- don't make fun of me- the Character's name! I'm such a dork. This book looks pretty awesome. I'll have to check it out at some point or another. Happy Friday!
Old Follower!
Hi Rebecca: I happen to like the name, too. It's old-school! Thanks for stopping by!
I saw this yesterday at Barnes and Noble. It looks interesting. Let us know how you like it after you have finished. I love this meme because I have time to visit everyone who posts. Thanks for participating.
Hi JC…it's really good so far. Hopefully I will finish it this weekend and then my review will be up sometime after that! Thanks for stopping by!
What a colorfully vivid opening! Thanks for posting it on Book Beginnings!
Isn't it? That's one of the things I love about Adriana Trigiani – her writing is always so vivid! So glad I found this meme – thanks for stopping by!
I've read all of her books. She has such a gift for description, don't you think? Her characters and settings just come alive for me. I loved The Shoemaker's Wife.
Yes, I do and I am working my way through all her books, too. Thanks for stopping by Mary!
