Summary:
While in an airport restroom in Atlanta, Will Trent, an agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, overhears a girl pleading to go home and knows something is wrong. But he waits too long to act, and now the girl and the angry man she’s with have disappeared into the crowds at the busiest passenger airport in the world. After a desperate search, Will calls his supervisor, Amanda Wagner. Will’s partner, Faith, immediately sends out an abducted child alert. The entire airport soon grinds to a halt all because Will has a hunch he is certain is true: a young girl has been snatched. And he intends to bring her back.
My thoughts:
This is a novella/short story in the Will Trent series and while you technically don’t have to read it as part of the series, me being the traditionalist, must read every part of a series that there is. Plus, this was a quick listen and just gives more insight into Will’s character. At this point, I will read anything Karin Slaughter writes, especially if it has to do with this series. I do love how it sets up Will for what he will be doing in the next book – gives us a little bit more of the why he has been given this role, which I find to be quite hysterical!
As I’ve stated before and I will keep repeating…this series is amazing. If you can handle dark, gritty reads, you MUST check this series out. It is meticulously plotted, with threads carried over from not only previous books in the series but also from the Grant County series. I don’t know how she does it, but Karin Slaughter is a genius when it comes to this series. It is definitely one of my favorites!
Audio thoughts:
As usual, my favorite Kathleen Early brings this book to life and I could not love it more! She makes listening to these books so delightful no matter how dark they get.
