Summary:
The new short story from Karin Slaughter and Lee Child!
Twice the action.
Twice the drama.
Double the trouble.
Will Trent is undercover at Fort Knox. His assignment: to investigate a 22-year-old murder. His suspect’s name: Jack Reacher.
Jack Reacher is in Fort Knox on his own mission: to bring down a dangerous criminal ring operating at the heart of America’s military. Except now Will Trent is on the scene.
But there’s a bigger conspiracy at play – one that neither the special agent nor the ex-military cop could have anticipated. And the only option is for Jack Reacher and Will Trent to team up and play nicely. If they can….
My thoughts:
This was quite the mash-up! I am a huge Will Trent fan and this is listed as part of the Will Trent series, but it is also part of the Jack Reacher series, which I don’t read. I decided to pick this one up because the previous short stories have been set-ups for the upcoming full-length novels, but this one really wasn’t…but I’m still glad I read it.
I love Will Trent and getting any further look into his character is a plus for me. I love seeing him undercover and out of his normal routine and that’s what we have here. Yes, he’s still doing his job, but he’s not around familiar people, people who know his weaknesses and can jump in when he’s struggling. Here he is on his own and I love seeing how he can work his way out of any situation and he manages to do just that and come out on top!
Audio thoughts:
Because this isn’t a true Will Trent novel, I wasn’t surprised to see a different narrator here. I did love that there were two narrators, though, and I thought they did a great job. Both the narrators, Eric Jason Martin and Jeff Harding, who were new-to-me, managed to work well together, bringing this story to life.
