How is it a quarter of the year has gone by? It seems like March went by in a blink of the eye, but at least it was filled with some amazing reads! And somehow I managed to stay on top of my reviews for once!!! I still have some from February and January to get to, but I’ll take the wins where I can get them.
April is a little nuts with me going to a book festival and trying to read some books by the authors that will be there, so that is my priority for the beginning of the month and then I’ll go full steam with the books coming out in April. Of course that won’t help me get ahead with books coming out but I think I’m long past that ever happening!

MY TOP 5 OF MARCH:
***I did this last year and am going to continue it again this year, with a few modifications.
- Favorite book(s) of March – these books are the ones I absolutely loved and will be recommending to everyone. They will be staying on my shelf and might even be rereads at some point in the future.
- Listen to the Lie
- Becoming Madam Secretary
- Lilith
- Kill for Me, Kill for You
- The Many Lives of Mama Love
- Biggest Surprise of March: How much I absolutely loved Lara Love Hardin’s memoir, The Many Lives of Mama Love. I put off reading this one, didn’t request it when it first came out and only got it after Oprah picked it as her book club pick and once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. It’s the type of story that you find yourself totally captivated by and she actually inspires you to be a better person!
- Newly Acquired Books I’m Super Excited About: This month I received quite a few books I cannot wait to read:
- Sisters of the Lost Nation by Nick Medina, out April 19, paperback release
- Everytime We Say Goodbye by Natalie Jenner, out May 14
- In a Dark Mirror by Kat Davis, out June 1
- Favorite Part of Month – I went to 2 amazing author events in March, both at The Mysterious Bookshop in NYC. The first was to see Eric Rickstad discuss his new book, Lilith, which will no doubt be a top read of the year! And the second was to see Steve Cavanagh in conversation with my friend Dennis, discussing Steve’s new book Kill for Me, Kill for You. This was such a fantastic thriller and I cannot believe I have not read any of Steve’s books before now.
- 5 Books I’m most looking forward to reading next month:
- She’s Not Sorry by Mary Kubica – I have been a fan of Mary Kubica’s books since her debut and cannot wait to get to this newest one! Out April 2nd
- Daughter of Mine by Megan Miranda– I am a big fan of Megan Miranda’s books and am super excited that I will be meeting her this month at the Hamptons Who Dunit Mystery and Crime Fest! Out April 9th.
- You Know What You Did by K.T. Nguyen – A debut for fans of Lisa Jewell and Celeste Ng, sign me up! Out April 16th.
- Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth– Sally Hepworth is one of my favorites and I’ll be seeing her while she’s on tour for this one! Out April 23rd.
- Safe and Sound by Laura McHugh– I loved Laura’s last book, What’s Done in Darkness and have been eager to read more by her! Out April 23rd.
So tell me, what was your favorite read of the month? What are you looking forward to reading in the next month?
