Month in Review: September 2024

September was busy…but good. I managed to get a lot of reading in, lots of audiobooks of course, but my book blanket has taken a back seat. It’s just too hard to work on that with two new puppies who are into everything! Oh well. Maybe I’ll get back to it at some point.

I have steadily been working on both getting caught up on reviews and getting my Goodreads up-to-date. I think one of my primary goals of 2025 is going to be to stay on top of both of these!

MY TOP 5 OF SEPTEMBER:

***I did this last year and am going to continue it again this year, with a few modifications.

  1. Favorite book(s) of September – these books are the ones I absolutely loved and will be recommending to everyone. They will be staying on my shelf and might even be rereads at some point in the future.
    • The Briar Club
    • The Close-Up
    • Death at the Sanitorium
    • The Examiner
    • The Sequel
  2. Biggest Surprise of September: I read a vampire book, So Thirsty, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it! Rachel Harrison is proving to be quite a favorite author…this is the 2nd book I’ve read by her and I cannot wait to read her other books!
  3. Newly Acquired Books I’m Super Excited About: This month I received quite a few books I cannot wait to read:
    • The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern by Lynda Cohen Loigman, out October 8th
    • The Lost House by Melissa Larsen, out January 14th
    • Something in the Walls by Daisy Pearce, out February 25th
  4. Favorite Part of September – I got to attend the book launch for my friend Elise Hart Kipness’s latest book, Dangerous Play. The launch was held at The Mysterious Bookshop in NYC and then the after party was held at Serafina Tribecca.
  5. 5 Books I’m most looking forward to reading next month:
    • The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern by Lynda Cohen Loigman – I have been a fan of Loigman’s books since her debut and cannot wait to see what this one is all about! Out October 8th.
    • The Puzzle Box by Danielle Trussoni – The next book in the Puzzle series.  Out October 8th.
    • The Book of Witching by C.J. Cooke – I’ve become quite a fan of this author’s work…and this just sounds perfect for spooky season! Out October 8th
    • The Blue Hour by Paula Hawkins – I’m such a fan of this author and am excited for this latest one! Out October 29th.
    • Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier– This is a reread…but I’m going to do the audio this time around. This is one of my favorite books and I think this is the perfect time to pull it out and read it again! Already out!

So tell me, what was your favorite read of the month? What are you looking forward to reading in the next month?
