Summary:

Would you defend your husband if he was accused of killing his mistress?

Sarah Morgan is a successful and powerful defense attorney in Washington D.C. At 33 years old, she is a named partner at her firm and life is going exactly how she planned.

The same cannot be said for her husband, Adam. He is a struggling writer who has had little success in his career. He begins to tire of his and Sarah’s relationship as she is constantly working.

Out in the secluded woods, at Adam and Sarah’s second home, Adam engages in a passionate affair with Kelly Summers.

Then, one morning everything changes. Adam is arrested for Kelly’s murder. She had been found stabbed to death in Adam and Sarah’s second home.

Sarah soon finds herself playing the defender for her own husband, a man accused of murdering his mistress.

But is Adam guilty or is he innocent?

My thoughts:

I’ve been meaning to read Jeneva Rose for a while now and when I was offered her latest book, The Perfect Divorce, I jumped at the opportunity. But that also meant, I would be reading more than one book by her because that book was the follow-up to an earlier book, The Perfect Marriage and I was told it would make more sense to start there…so I did and what a ride that book turned out to be!

I can definitely see why this author is loved by so many. This book totally grabbed me from the get-go and didn’t let up, with twists and turns I did not see coming. I mean, I read a ton of thrillers and when I tell you this one left me with my jaw wide open, I’m not lying! And I couldn’t have loved that more. Was it a bit over-the-top at times, maybe, and was there a bit more spice than I’m used to in my thrillers, absolutely, but I think in this case, it was needed.

For a debut novel, I’m quite impressed and am looking forward to picking up her latest book – and will definitely be checking out her other books as well!

Audio thoughts:

This was fantastic on audio…I loved that they had two narrators, a male and female narrator, for this one. It just made the book stand out and come alive that much more. The narrators, Andrew Eiden and Mozhan Navabi, did an amazing job with their parts.
